One of the most recently composed songs, Matt had the instrumental parts roughly recorded at home for over a year before recording. Knowing it would likely be a keeper, Matt waited for the right lyrics to come along. The band also wanted to have a song that talked about an outwash plain and the theme fit with the instrumentation. "Jack Pine Queen" ended up being the name of the song and was pulled from a small part after the second chorus "lost in a sandy dream, you can be my jack pine queen." For those not in the know, jack pine grows on very sandy sites, often outwash plain landforms. The theme of the song is similar to the Outwash Plain skit before this tune on the album. Its about getting inspired at an outwash plain after seeing all the life in a nutrient poor place. No matter what you do......try not to see obstacles, only opportunities!
